Mahindra sells 16,700 passenger vehicles in March 2021

– Passenger vehicle sales increased by 394%

– Exports amount to 2126 units

Mahindra and Mahindra reported selling a total of 40,403 vehicles as of March 2021. This cumulative record includes passenger vehicles, utility vehicles and exports to global markets. Compared to the same time last year, when the auto market slowed due to the onset of the pandemic, overall sales are now up more than 500 percent.

In the domestic sales category, Mahindra retailed 16,643 units of its utility vehicles, which is significantly higher than 3,111 units in March 2020. The cars and vans segment recorded a further decline of 79% with only 57 units the previous month. Exports also gained momentum in March 2021 with 2,126 vehicles sent to global markets. A total of 16,700 passenger cars were sold by the Indian automaker in March 2021.

However, the automaker continues to witness a production delay due to a semiconductor supply shortage, which is expected to continue over the coming months. Mahindra is also preparing to launch the next-gen XUV500 and Scorpio which are slated to launch in 2021.
