Tributes to Love/Hate actor Stephen Clinch
Tributes were paid to former love-hate actor Stephen Clinch after his death on Tuesday.
The Dublin actor played the character of Noely, a criminal in a feud with the character of Fran (Peter Coonan), in seasons four and five of RT’s hit cop series.
The father-of-three also appeared in the 2017 film Cardboard gangsters and in the 2019 TV series dark lands.
Clinch was jailed in 2016 after admitting to committing an armed robbery of 50,000 people.
He was released from prison in 2019.
Cardboard gangsters and dark lands director Mark O’Connor was among those who paid tribute to Clinch on Twitter.
O’Connor wrote: “You made mistakes but you overcame them. Incredible actor, the only one to star in all my movies & Darklands.
“One of the funniest people you can meet never asked for anything and gave it your all. Today Dublin lost one of its truest legends. RIP my mate Clinchy.”

Actor John Connors posted a tribute to Clinch on his Instagram Stories, saying he was “one of the funniest, most decent people I’ve ever known” and “as loyal as a friend to anyone.” you might wish”.
“I love you Clinchy. I will always miss you,” Connors added.
Robbie Breen, who starred alongside Clinch in dark landsTold Sunday world of the late actor: “He was a real character on and off the set, may he rest in peace.”
Clinch’s funeral will take place on Saturday morning at 11am in Our Lady Immaculate Church, Darndale.
