Death of actor Francisco Merino, one of the great secondary of Spanish cinema
The actor Francisco Merinosone of the great secondaries of the Spanish scene with more than half a century of experience in cinema, theater and television, died this Sunday at the age of 91, as confirmed by the Actors Union in a message on his Twitter account.

Merino, born in Madrid in 1931, studied at the School of Dramatic Art in the Spanish capital and began his career in the theaterwhere he represented works such as Fortunata and Hyacinth, Don Juan Tenorio, bohemian lights, Mrs. Warren’s occupation or Romeo and Juliet.
However, he has become a familiar face on television, a medium in which he has starred. many supporting roleslike that of Doctor Don Vicente in the TVE series Tell mein which he appeared intermittently between 2001 and 2015 and which was his last professional work.
He also participated in series such as Curro Jimenez, The Regent, Open pharmacy, 7 lives, Commissioner, The Serranos, The boarding school, Red Eagle a TVE miniseries The kingin which played Francisco Franco. In addition, he was a regular at the mythical theatrical space Studio 1 of the ETP.

In his filmography -with about fifty titles- titles such as South (Victor Erice), demons in the garden (Manuel Gutierrez Aragon), The walleye (Carlos Saura), come down from the moor (Fernando Colom), all in jail (Luis Garcia Berlanga) o One franc, 14 pesetas (Carlos Iglesias), among many others.
In 2008, Francisco Merino received the Actors Union Lifetime Award, although he continued to be active until 2015.
