Jess Glynne accuses restaurant of “sheer discrimination” after being denied for wearing a hoodie

Jess Glynne was widely mocked after being turned away from a restaurant for wearing a hoodie – calling the decision pure discrimination.

The singer knocked on Mayfair’s Sexy Fish after she and a friend couldn’t get a table last night.

Glynne was dressed in an oversized gray hoodie, jogging bottoms, sneakers and a black cap.

She wrote on Instagram, “I showed up at your restaurant like this and you looked at me up and down with my friend and said you couldn’t come in and your restaurant was EMPTY.

I then went to @amazonicolondon who greeted me and my friend with pure joy and we had a striking meal with nasty service.

@sexyfishlondon please check for yourself if this is how you treat people because it is rude, off-putting, embarrassing and certainly not inviting.

“We were kept waiting and 2 members of staff came to look at us and make a decision based on our appearance. I think that the attitude of your staff must change because it was pure discrimination. Thank you and goodbye.

Hitting the singer, social media users criticized Glynne for apparently failing to read the room, following recent Black Lives Matter protests around the world.

“That’s why the #BLM movement is happening right now. Jess Glynne has the impression of being discriminated against because she turned away from an upscale sushi restaurant in MAYFAIR !! White privilege at its best! “Wrote a user.

Journalist Alim Kheraj added: “Someone has to tell Jess Glynne that … turning away from a restaurant because you are wearing a hoodie is not discrimination.”

The restaurant’s website indicates that their dress code is chic and casual, and customers are specifically advised not to wear sports or beach clothing. ripped jeans, flip flops, sliders or training sneakers.

Last month, it was announced that Glynne would play the 2021 Isle of Wight Festival, despite the fact that festival boss John Giddings said in 2019 that the singer would never be invited to replay on the Isle of Wight.

The singer has apparently been banned from appearing at the festival again for life after canceling her seat at the 2019 event at the last minute.

Glynne said laterthat she withdrew from her performance when she felt incredibly weak and anxious before going on stage, adding that she had to do what was good for my physical and mental health.

This statement followedmedia reportswho accused Glynne of partying with the Spice Girls until the early hours of the day of her performance on the Isle of Wight after her support spot in the pop group finals at Wembley Stadium.
