USF No. 64 Bulls maintain winning streak by beating UAB Blazers

TAMPA, Florida. (March 19, 2023) The USF Bulls won their third straight game after a 4-3 victory Sunday afternoon in Tampa against the University of Alabama at the Birmingham Blazers.
Two fold, David Tortora And Bruno Oliveira failed on the first short but Alvin Tudorica And Erik Grevelius fought on their home turf to level the playing field.
The fate of the double point came down to Thomas Pavlekovitch-Smith And Tom Pisan on court three. Tied 6-6, they got three straight points before UAB showed resistance. With some cheering from the crowd and a bit of composure, they were able to follow through and beat their opponents, 7-6 (7-4).
Going into singles with the advantage – for the third game in a row – the Verts et Or needed three extra courts to clinch.
Oliveira on court four claimed his ground 6-1, 6-2 to bring the team one step closer to another victory. Soon after, the Blazers added their own runs with wins on courts three and six.
Dropping his first set 4-6, Elie Cham on court five recovered to win his next two in dominant fashion. Cham would give South Florida their third point by winning their remaining sets 6-2, 6-1.
After the side courts were completed, the center courts would determine the outcome of the day. The No. 106 Tortora won his first set with ease, 6-2 on the first court. However, his opponent Michal Lusovsky moved differently in the second.
Things would tighten up in the tiebreaker, but Tortora managed to fight their way to win their second set 7-6 (9-7).
With the win over UAB, the Bulls are now 9-9 this season, snapped the Blazers’ four-game winning streak and won five of their last six games.
