Urban Outfitters launches unisex workwear line with Cat and Reclaimed

Workwear has long had a big influence in fashion and Urban Outfitters is hoping to capitalize on its popularity with a new collection.

The retailer has teamed up with Cat Apparel and Reclaimed Inc. for a collection of unisex, workwear-inspired looks.

Julian Felix, founder of Los Angeles-based streetwear brand Reclaimed, took inspiration from Cat's history in workwear for a nine-piece collection consisting of pants, shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, vests and jackets.

The collection was created using sustainable materials, features a neutral color palette of black, gray and white and will retail between $39 and $159.

“At Urban Outfitters, we have long been fans of Julian’s work for Reclaimed,” said Clynton Cox, Urban Outfitters Men’s Brand and Partnerships Buyer. “We discovered her brand, Reclaimed, around 2020 on Instagram, and her fusion of clothing alterations and her take on fashion cuts, fabrication and silhouette was unique in a way that cut across the market. As Urban Outfitters and Cat grew their relationship together and began exploring partnerships to creatively reinvigorate the company, partnering with Reclaimed was a natural fit, as Julian had previously designed with workwear fits and materials .

California-based Felix grew up shopping with his mother at thrift stores and began selling vintage clothing to friends and on eBay in high school. He created Reclaimed in 2016 and the company sells reclaimed, reimagined and vintage clothing.

“I imagine everyone wears this collection,” Felix said. “That’s another thing I love about this project. This will be the first time Reclaimed will be available to everyone at fair prices.

The collection will be available in select Urban Outfitters stores and online starting Tuesday. The retailer operates more than 200 stores in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Cat clothing traces its history to the Caterpillar construction equipment brand founded in 1904. The clothing business manufactures both workwear and lifestyle products.
