TEMPO.CO, Hualien – Rescue workers in Taiwan faced the threat of more landslides and rockfalls Friday while searching for a dozen people still missing following this week's earthquake, as the death toll rose to 12 while some of the stranded people were brought to safety.
Researchers discovered two more bodies after Wednesday's 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck the country's sparsely populated and largely rural eastern county of Hualien, stranding hundreds of people in a national park while that rocks were rolling down the mountains, cutting the roads.

2. The constitutional judge decides not to summon President Jokowi
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Constitutional Judge Arief Hidayat said the commission responsible for resolving the dispute over the general election results (PHPU) did not summon President Joko Widodo or Jokowi because he is both leader of state and head of government.
According to Arief, it is not appropriate to summon Jokowi to trial because the president is a symbol of the state who must be respected.

3. Jokowi requests that the 2025 state budget plan be discussed with Prabowo's administration
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi held a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday, April 5, 2024 to discuss the 2025 State Budget Indicative Ceiling (APBN). He expects communication with the next government to be led by President-elect Prabowo Subianto in 2024-2029.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani confirmed after the meeting that the president had requested to communicate with the new government so that priority programs could be implemented within the first year.
