Security measures at Imrans prison cost 1.2 million rupees per month

PTI founder president Imran Khan's security arrangements at Adiala Prison amount to hefty monthly bill of over Rs 1.2 million, says report submitted by prison superintendent to High Court of Lahore (LHC).

The report details the specialist facilities provided to Imran Khan within the prison compound, including a separate CCTV camera system installed at a cost of Rs500,000, separate from the system monitoring the other 7,000 prisoners.

Imran Khan's meals are prepared in a dedicated kitchen under the watchful eye of the Deputy Superintendent and are subject to inspection by a doctor or Deputy Superintendent before being served.

Additionally, a team of over six doctors from Holy Family Hospital are on duty to provide medical care to the former prime minister, while additional teams of specialists are carrying out regular check-ups.

Of the seven special cells available, Imran occupies two, while the other five are closed for security reasons, with Imran using the courtyard for his daily walks. Typically, 35 inmates are housed in these cells.

Access to Imran Khan's cell is strictly restricted, requiring permission to enter, and professionally trained staff are assigned to ensure the security of his cell.

While Adiala Prison typically assigns one staff member for every ten prisoners, Imran's security includes 15 staff members, including two security guards and three dedicated to his personal security. Additionally, a designated area within the prison premises is reserved for Imran Khan's recreational walks, equipped with exercise machines and other amenities.

Strict visitor regulations are enforced and comprehensive security protocols are implemented during court proceedings.

The report reveals the collaborative efforts of the Prison Police, Rangers and District Police to ensure security at Adiala Prison, including regular search operations and mock drills.

Additional police forces, Rangers and elite personnel are deployed in and around Adiala Prison to maintain a secure environment for Imran Khan and all inmates.
