The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday reserved its verdict on the petition filed by Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan (71), seeking her transfer to the high security jail in 'Adiala, where her husband is imprisoned.

After being convicted in several cases, Khan, founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was lodged in Adiala jail in Rawalpindi. However, Bushra Bibi (49) is currently imprisoned in Bani Gala (Khan's home in Islamabad). The house has been turned into a secondary prison since the couple was convicted in the un-Islamic nikah case in February.

After listening to arguments from both sides, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of the IHC reserved the verdict in the petition seeking transfer of Bushra Bibi from Bani Gala sub-jail to Adiala prison, The News reported International.

The court said the superintendent of Adiala prison informed that he could not accommodate the wife of the ex-prime minister as the prison was already overcrowded.

Bushra Bibi questioned, on February 6, the authorities' decision to imprison him in this residence to serve his 14-year sentence.

In the petition, Bushra Bibi argued that like other political workers of the PTI party, she was ready and willing to serve her sentence in the regular prison premises of Adiala Prison, “rather than in the sub -declared prison of his residence. Furthermore, the ex-prime minister's wife said she did not feel safe being imprisoned alone in the sub-jail premises due to possible security concerns.
