The retirement home was a gift from the state after he left office as president.
Jokowi himself chose the location of the retirement home where he will live after his term, which is only a few months away.

While serving as head of state, Megawati lived at the official residence located at Jalan Teuku Umar No. 27 and 29, Menteng, Central Jakarta. After retiring, Megawati chose to make her official residence the Gift House.
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received a house as a gift from the state after retiring. The house is located on Jalan Mega Kuningan Timur VII, Kuningan Timur, Setiabudi, South Jakarta. On an area of less than 1,500 square meters, a two-story luxury house equipped with an elevator was built, right behind the office of the Qatari Embassy for Indonesia.
Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo will be given a 1.2-hectare retirement home by the state along Jalan Adi Sucipto, Blulukan Village, Colomadu District, Karanganyar Regency, Central Java.
