The Coordinating Minister of Food asked the ministries concerned to give priority to local dairy production
Solo (ANTARA) – Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan has asked relevant ministries to prioritize local dairy production over imports.
“Order relevant ministries, including the Minister of Commerce, to prioritize domestic production,” he said on Wednesday during a visit to the residence of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo , in Solo, Central Java.
He said if domestic production had been completely absorbed, then imports would be made to meet the needs of society and industry.

“However, if domestic production is not absorbed by the industry, we will grant a quota on imports,” he said.
However, he advised farmers to improve the quality of cow's milk.
“Of course it will be fixed, if the quality is bad, it is not good either,” he said.

This was conveyed by Zulkifli Hasan in response to complaints from farmers and cow milk collectors in Boyolali because their milk production could not be fully absorbed by the Milk Processing Industry (IPS).
Due to this situation, tens of tons of cow's milk are wasted every day. Not long ago, breeders and collectors gathered in Simpang Lima Boyolali to distribute free fresh milk to the general public.
