After leaving Purwokerto, Jokowi returned to join the Ahmad Luthfi-Taj Yasin campaign in Tegal.
TEMPO.CO, Tegal – After participating in the Ahmad Luthfi-Taj Yasin campaign in Purwokerto, Joko Widodo again participated in a similar event in Tegal Regency on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Jokowi campaigned in the morning in Purwokerto and then moved to Tegal in the afternoon.
They started the campaign with a parade after lunch at Warung Sate Cempe Lemu or around Adiwerna gas station. All three first walked around greeting residents. After a few meters, get into the open-cab jeep.
Several traditional arts were displayed to welcome Jokowi and the Luthfi-Yasin couple. These include dance, music and many local creations. The parade ended shortly before rain fell in Tegal Regency.
Jokowi openly wants to participate in the campaign because he supports Luthfi-Yasin in the 2024 Central Java regional elections. “I came because I support him,” he said. Asked why he supported Luthfi-Yasin, Jokowi did not respond in detail. “Everyone knows it. No need to say it.”
Previously, he admitted that he supported Luthfi because of his close relationship with the former Central Java Regional Police Chief. “At that time I was mayor, Mas Luthfi, police chief. We were close because we were old friends,” Jokowi was quoted as saying in a press release issued by the Luthfi-Yasin team.
Meanwhile, Yasin is the son of Al-Anwar Rembang Islamic Boarding School principal Maimoen Zubair. “Many times I was invited by Gus Yasin's father. With the late Mbah Moen, I felt like his own child,” he said.
