Jokowi calls on whoever wins the elections not to be arrogant
Solo (ANTARA) – The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, called on whoever wins the 2024 regional elections (Pilkada) not to be arrogant.
“Yes, after calculating who wins, don't be arrogant [jemawa]”, he said after voting at Polling Station (TPS) 012, Sumber Village, Banjarsari District, Solo, Central Java, Wednesday.
Jokowi also asked whoever lost to accept defeat with grace.
“Even losers can accept it because sovereignty is in the hands of the people,” he said.
Regarding the implementation of simultaneous regional elections this time, Jokowi said, today everyone has exercised their right to vote.
“All Indonesians use their right to vote to elect pairs of governor and vice-governor candidates, elect regent and deputy candidates, elect mayor and deputy candidates,” he said.
According to him, so far the process is going well.
“In general, I see everything in a calm and good state,” he said.
On this occasion, Jokowi came with his wife, Iriana Joko Widodo. Jokowi's first grandson, Jan Ethes Srinarendra, was also seen accompanying his grandfather and grandmother.
