Trump to impose 25% prices on countries that buy Venezuela oil | Donald Trump News

President Donald Trump announced that any country that buys oil or gas in Venezuela will face a 25% rate in his business with the United States, from April 2.
The last tariff threat came in a social article on Truth on Monday morning, in which Trump assailed Venezuela for having aroused migration in the United States. He also criticized his government, led by President Nicolas Maduro.
Venezuela was very hostile to the United States and the freedoms we adopt, Trump wrote.
Consequently, any country that buys oil and / or gas in Venezuela will be forced to pay a rate of 25% in the United States on any trade they do with our country.
The price appears designed not only to carry a blow against Venezuela but also against China, the main economic rival of USS and the largest consumer of Venezuelan energy products.
Later, at a meeting of the White House cabinet, Trump said that he would also place prices on pharmaceutical products, cars and aluminum.
Already, on April 2, American trade partners were preparing for Trump called the reciprocal import rates that seek to match what other countries impose on American products.
What is so exciting is April 2 is just at the corner of the street. And it's the American Liberation Day. It is the day the rest of the world begins to treat America with respect, said the secretary of trade Howard Lutnick at the meeting of the cabinet, echoing the feelings that Trump expressed in the past.
Lutnick added that April 2 would also mark the launch of the external Revenue Service, a new agency whose work will consist in collecting prices and other import taxes.
Critics, however, have stressed that American customs and border protection under the Ministry of Internal Security collects and already deal with prices on behalf of the federal government.
The creation of a new agency would also require an act of congress.
Pressure campaign on Venezuela
The latest announcements prevail over a continuation of his pressure campaign against Venezuela, one of the longtime targets.
During his first mandate, from 2017 to 2021, Trump implemented a maximum pressure campaign against the South American country, imposing heavy sanctions on his government.
The Maduro government has been accused of human rights violations, including torture and arbitrary detention of dissidents. Trump, during his first mandate, even offered a reward of $ 15 million for information that would lead to Maduros' arrest.
Maduro, on the other hand, accused the United States of mingling with the affairs of his countries and of seeking to overthrow his government. He also blamed American sanctions for exacerbating an economic crisis which resulted, in part, from a sharp drop in oil prices in the mid -2010s.
Venezuela has some of the largest crude oil reserves in the world, and it also has the largest natural gas deposits in South America. Its economy largely depends on energy exports.
While Trump entered his second term in January, he was not clear if he would return to his maximum pressure campaign. Critics have hypothesized that Trumps undertake to carry out a mass expulsion campaign would require a certain level of cooperation with the government of Maduro.
On February 1, the special shipment Richard Grenell met Maduro to ask the Venezuelan chef to accept the US-expelled undelated migrants.
Venezuela had largely refused to do so in the past. He has no diplomatic relations with the United States.
However, Grenell left with a provisional agreement so that Venezuela accepts deportations, as well as the release of six Americans who had been detained in the country.
Last Saturday, Maduro pronounced a television address confirming that his country would resume the deportations of the United States exports. Such an expulsion flight arrived at Simon Bolivar International Airport early on Monday morning.
Trump nevertheless sought to further restrict the economic production of Venezuelas, citing concerns in terms of human rights.
In February, for example, Trump said that he would revoke an oil license granted to the energy giant Chevron, who gave him special authorization to collaborate with the oil companies managed by the state of Venezuelas. Chevron was given until May 27 to close its Venezuelan operations.
And in his post Monday, Trump blamed Venezuela for the waves of migrants fleeing its borders, saying without evidence that the country intentionally sent people to the United States.
Venezuela has deliberately sent and in a deceptive way to the United States, under cover, tens of thousands of high levels and other criminals, many of whom are murderers and people of very violent nature, wrote Trump.
Among the gangs they sent to the United States is Tren of Aragua, which has received the appointment of a foreign terrorist organization. We are in the process of returning them to Venezuela, it's a big task!
Trump has long confused migration with crime, amplifying nativist fears of a criminal invasion in the United States.
However, a large part of Venezuelas Exodus was stimulated by its economic crisis and its political repression. Some 7.7 million Venezuelans fled the country among the shortages of basic products such as food and medicine. Many are refugees or asylum seekers.
Critics have also warned that pricing threats could turn against him, creating higher prices for American consumers.
Among the countries that buy Venezuelas petroleum products and therefore face 25% prices are China, Spain, Brazil and Turkiye.
According to the US Energy Information Administration, Venezuelas oil production has been decreasing for more than a decade, going from 3.2 million barrels per day in 2000 to 735,000 in September 2023.
The organization of oil exporting countries (OPEC) estimates that Venezuelas oil exports were estimated at $ 13.68 billion for 2023.
