The first Vande Bharat train between Katra and Srinagar will be launched by PM Modi on April 19
The very first Vande Bharat in Kashmir will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 19, reported Commercial standard.
The inauguration of Katra will be the culmination of a trip of several decades to provide rail connectivity between the valley and the rest of the country.
The Minister of Railways Ashwini Vahnaw, the Minister of the Union Jeitra Singh, Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha, J & K Cm Omar Abdullah and other dignitaries will be present at the ceremony.
Currently, the cashmere train services only take place between Baramulla and Sanggaldan, with long -distance trains ending in Katra.
The new Vande Bharat will fill this gap, ranging from Katra to Srinagar / Baramulla, allowing commuters to go directly to the cashmere by train for the first time.
The service will be extended to Jammu once the station work is completed.
The train is one of the components of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, a large infrastructure project to improve connectivity in the region. The rail link measures 272 km long.
An out -of -competition feature of this road is the Chenab bridge, the highest railway bridge in the world, symbol of the power of engineering from India.
Before the official inauguration, Prime Minister Modi will visit the emblematic Chenab bridge located in the Rasi district.
After having inspected the bridge, the Prime Minister will go to Katra to devote the train service and speak at a public meeting.
