Cirata Floating Solar Project: Initiative Landmark Renewable Energy in collaboration in Indonesia with water and China

The Cirata floating photovoltaic project (FPV), the largest floating solar installation of Southeast Asias, has officially started its operations, marking an important step in the transition of renewable energies in Indonesia. Developed by Powarchina in partnership with Indononas Sorpity Electricity Company PLN and the Masdar UAES, the 192 megawatts project is the first large -scale floating solar floor of Indonesia. It was successfully connected to the national grid in November 2023.

Built on the Cirata reservoir, the project has overcome substantial engineering challenges, including complex underwater land and high wind speeds. To secure floating tables, Powarchina implemented a specialized anchor system using metal shear wrench and concrete counterweight. In -depth blower tests and calculation modeling have also been carried out to optimize the layout of the panels and ensure structural stability.

Speaking during the network connection ceremony, Indonesian president Joko Widodo praised the project as a crucial step towards the ambitions of the own energy of nations and the objectives of net-zero emissions. The Cirata factory contributes significantly to the supply of Indonesian renewable energies, generating 300,000 MWh per year to supply 50,000 houses. It also plays a key role in reducing coal dependence, reduction in coal consumption by 117,000 tonnes and the reduction of carbon emissions.

The success of the Cirata project highlights the importance of global collaboration in the progression of sustainable energy initiatives. Powarchina has reaffirmed her commitment to support the global development of renewable energies thanks to open and mutually beneficial international partnerships.
