Prime Minister Imran Khan to inaugurate the KP U21 Games

PESHAWAR, March 2 (APP): On March 8, 2020, Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate Pakistan's largest KP U21 Games involving 26,000 athletes in 32 men's and 27 women's disciplines, at the Qayyum Sports Complex.

This was stated by general manager of sports, Asfandyar Khan Khattak, during a conversation with reporters in Beijing on Monday. He said preparations for this were in the final stages and that players would arrive on March 6, the games would start on March 7 while the Prime Minister is expected to open the Games on March 8, 2020.

After the successful holding of the 33rd National Games by the General Directorate of Sports KP with the collaboration of the Olympic Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Pakistan Olympic Association. He said that the 33rd edition has been declared as the best of all the editions held so far, which is certainly a great honor for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that holding these Games first at Tehsil level and now at inter-district and inter-regional levels would give a message of peace to the rest of the world. He said the government is committed to involving as many young people as possible in healthy sporting activities.

He said earlier that the Games were held under the name of U23, but to seek local talent and to provide many opportunities for the neglected distrust of 127 Tehsils participated in the Games in the first phase, followed by Inter-District and Regional Inter-Phases. He said it was a clear indication that peace had returned to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and that the government would take all necessary measures for its sustainability.

He revealed that the provincial round of the Inter-District Games would start on March 6 and continue until March 10.

The games include volleyball, athletics, tug of war, soccer, kabaddi, badminton, squash, snooker, etc., in which a total of 2940 players from different districts of the province will participate.

He said male and female players will participate in the interregional games soon after the inter-district phase, which includes baseball, handball, field tennis, squash, boxing, basketball, handball, has ended. , taekwondo, judo, wushu, hockey, snooker, cycling and other games.

Asfandyar Khan Khattak said that a total of 1,743 players, including 749 women, would participate in the interregional games. They said that inter-district and inter-regional competitions would be held in Peshawar for which arrangements had been made.
This second round of the U21 Games included hockey, table tennis, judo karate, taekwondo, wrestling, volleyball, athletics and other competitions.

The second round will take place from April 15-18, where a total of 6,825 players will participate in the competitions. He said players' open trials for the second round would end between April 2 and 10.
