No. 31 women's tennis improves to 2-0 in NCAC with a sweep at OWU
DELWARE, Ohio (March 27, 2024) The No. 31 Denison University women's tennis team defeated Ohio Wesleyan University 9-0 en route to improving to 2-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference this season.
Dasha Chistyakova And Ariana Rodriguez raced to an 8-0 victory over Evaleigh Garnett and Riley Brokaw at No. 3 doubles to get the match underway.
Anna Leach And Elizabeth Hoe followed by an 8-3 victory over Francesca Nuss and Lily Hershey at No. 2 doubles before Caroline Kittel And Peyton Oda finished with an 8-2 victory over Kaitlyn Quinn and Shanzay Ali in first place.
In singles, Chistyakova defeated Quinn 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, Oda defeated Ali 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 and Leach came out on top 6-3, 6-2 on top Hershey. at the number 4 position.
In the last three matches, Kittle defeated Nuss 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, while Hoo defeated Emma Pzedpelski 6-1, 6-0 No. 5 singles and Rodriguez won 6-2, 6-0 by Maisie Dugger at No. 6 singles.
Denison improved to 8-5 overall and has now won 36 straight against the Battling Bishops since the 1996 season.
For the second day in a row, the Big Red will play on the road in NCAC action as they head to Springfield, Ohio to take on Wittenberg University tomorrow (March 28) at 4:30 p.m.
