Playing against St Jo's, Woodbridge 1^stThe XI Girls Cricket team won their match by seven wickets last weekend, a great start to their season.

Woodbridge won the toss and elected to bowl first in very wet and cold conditions; this proved a crucial choice, and our opening bowlers of Year 10 Lily and Year 9 Frankie bowled extremely well, limiting St Jo's excellent opening pair.

Just as St Jos were getting going, Amelie from Year 9 took a great catch and bowled to open the door. This was followed by an excellent catch from Frankie at mid-wicket to get their best batsman and captain out, followed by another excellent wicket-keeping catch from Year 12's Violetta.

The next few bowlers then bowled excellent line and length, and having faced the opposition of 80 for 2, we then restricted them to 96 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Year 12's Charlotte finished 2 for 7, Year 9's Rosa 1 for 5, Lily 1 for 18 from 4 overs, and Frankie, 1 for 19 from 4 overs.

We opened our innings with Violetta and Charlotte. They did a fantastic job seeing the opening bowler bowl excellent line and length. This saw the next three batters of Year 11 Bonnie, Amelie and Lily come in and bat sensibly, utilizing the points on offer.

We surpassed their score in the 15^eover, 3 wickets behind, with Amelie on 29 not out and Lily on 11 not out. Amélie's knock must be mentioned for the power yet control she played with.
