Stanford hires ex-Colts, Panthers HC Frank Reich as an interim football coach
Stanford hired former NFL head coach Frank Reich as the Interim football coach after the dismissal of Troy Taylor, the school announced on Monday.
“I could no longer be more enthusiastic for our coaches, employees and players to have Frank as our main football coach for the 2025 season”, Stanford General Manager Andrew Luck said in a statement Monday. “I have experienced the incredible impact that Frank has demonstrated as a leader from the first hand and I am fully confident that he is the perfect steward for this season of Stanford Football. Frank is a teacher, a winner and a coach of the highest caliber. Frank's values voices seamlessly in accordance with our vision of our student's ability.”
Happiness made the decision to dismiss Taylor last week after a report became public that Taylor had been investigated twice for alleged mistreatment of employees.
Happiness chose to hire his old coach on the Indianapolis Colts for the track for this season. Reich coached for six years in the NFL for Indianapolis and Carolina, including the 2018 season when happiness was his starting quarterback.

Stanford tries to rebuild his wrestling football program after four consecutive seasons with a 3-9 record, including the last two with Taylor who are in charge.
Happiness was accepted last November to lead the football program and to report directly to school chairman Jon Levin. Stanford is currently also looking for an athletic director at Alden Mitchell who was hired last week as an interim after Bernard Muir's decision to resign.
