No. 1 Boston College Mens Hockey Falls to Denver in Manchester Regional Final
The No. 1-Seded Boston College Eagles (27-8-2) Herenhockey team season ended with a 3-1 loss for the Denver pioneers (31-11-1) in the Regional final of Manchester on Sunday evening.
Boston College came out quickly and aggressively and surpassed Denver 11-5 in the opening frame, but it was the pioneers who went 1-0 in the first period for a goal of defender Eric Pohlkamp at 6:19 PM.
The Eagles came close to a goal in the opening frame when the referees rated a potential goal of Forward Gabe Perreault, but the net was loosened on the play before the puck went in and was ruled as no goal.
The pioneers expanded their lead 2-0 with a goal from Forward James Reeder at 2:59 in the second period.
Denver originally added another goal to the board in the second, but Eagles head coach Greg Brown challenged for the outside and won it and took the score away.
Boston College took the first and only goal of the night in the last minute of the second period with a score by Forward Teddy Stiga at 19:07 to reduce his shortage in half by 2-1. Forward Will Stem has defeated the assist.
The Eagles remained aggressive in the third period when they surpassed the Pioneers 14-1, but could not perform a goal to bind the match.
