Ryan Grubb has brought a different personality to Alabama's football, especially in comparison with Kalen Deboer. The new attacking coordinator of Crimson has so far delivered a fiery presence on the practice field, while working to breathe new life into the UA attack.
Alabama offensive guard Jaeden Roberts said he liked to work with Grubb, who after a year with the NFLS Seatle Seahawks enjoyed working with Grubb, who took over as a primary OC and Playcaller.
I love his intensity, Robert said in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday. I love him as a coach. I mean, he is only that guy to be there, the man we need to push the attack and make us better.
Roberts, who entered his fifth season with Crimson Tide, was asked to compare a Grubb-Kont with that of his former coach, Nick Saban. The man who won six national championships in Alabama was also known for his fire, and could be seen, usually several times a season, screaming against players during matches.
A bit similar, Robert said. He comes in his mode, you know, but I think that every coach is. But he and Nick Saban, it's a bit different, but the energy is still there.
Saban's preference for intense correction was legendary during his term of office. One of the final recipients of a Saban-Kitting, former Crimson Tide Defensive Back Terrion Arnold, described how he dealt with it.

Grubb initially followed the farmer from Washington, where the two had helped the Huskies to a performance by a national championship game. However, when the NFL opportunity occurred, he chose to stay in Seattle.
He was fired by the Seahawks after the 2024 season. Grubb then returned to work with his old friend, after the Alabama attack had fought the consistency problems during the first year of doers at work.
Grubb was an offensive line coach early in his career. Roberts said the background appeared during the spring practice.
He was definitely an attacking line man, said Roberts. Even for his small height, certainly an attacking line man. You can see that he sometimes goes to us during training. But he only does that because he knows how capable we can be.
Alabama will continue with spring practice up to and including 12 April, when it will hold an open session for A-Day in Bryant-Denny Stadium. A-day will not be a scrimmage or game this year and not be on television, although admission remains free in the stadium.
