Technology adds chief scientific advisor

The government's technology department has added to its senior ranks with several new appointments, including a chief scientific adviser and a number of non-executive directors.

Professor Christopher Johnson will join the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) as Chief Scientific Adviser in July.

Mr Johnson is currently Vice-Chancellor for Engineering and Physical Sciences at Queen's University Belfast. His career includes fellowships with NASA and the US Air Force, as well as establishing a cybersecurity laboratory for the UK civil nuclear industry.

Mr Johnson said: “Across the Government, I will champion a whole-of-society approach to innovation and work to ensure that the fruits of scientific progress are spread to every corner of society.”

“As difficult as it may be, our mission to embrace disruptive technologies, leverage research to drive economic growth, and seize opportunities for international cooperation is to ensure that everyone is safe, secure and prosperous.” It will create an opportunity to build a brighter future.”

The division, which is currently in its second year since its launch in February 2023, has appointed Dominic Field and Liz Cohen as DSIT division directors. Cohen will also chair the technology division's new Audit, Risk and Assurance Committee (ARAC).

Shonelle Malani, a partner at private equity firm Advent International, has been reappointed to lead a team of non-executive directors and provide strategic oversight and guidance to the division.

This diverse team puts insights from the cutting edge of industry and academia at the heart of our work, making us perfectly poised to deliver on ambitious challenges and leading the world in science, technology and innovation. We will secure Britain's position as a global power.” Technical Secretary Michelle Donnellan.

One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
