Modern Warfare 3 Coming to Xbox Game Pass

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be available on Xbox Game Pass starting Wednesday, just before the start of Season 5 of the first-person shooter.

The game's arrival on Game Pass comes shortly after Xbox increased the price of its Game Pass subscription and restricted content availability at each tier. As a result of these changes, “Modern Warefare III” is only available to customers subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (the highest-priced tier at $19.99 per month), PC Game Pass ($11.99), and Xbox Game Pass for Console (which is no longer available to new users), but not to those in the “Core” tier ($69.99 per year).

Originally released in November 2023, “Modern Warfare III” was developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision, and was previously only available as a standalone purchase and not as part of Xbox's subscription gaming service.

“Modern Warfare III” is the 20th game in the “Call of Duty” series and the third game in the “Modern Warfare” reboot subseries.

The Season 5 downloadable content (DLC) release for Modern Warfare III includes two new Core 6v6 maps, a new mode, a final story mission for Zombies, the debut of the Superstore in Urzikstan, WWE stars as operators, and new content for Warzone Mobile. Season 5 also introduces an all-new Battle Pass, BlackCell offerings, and Store Bundles.

“Modern Warfare III” is coming to Game Pass ahead of the Oct. 25 launch of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,” and will be available to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers at launch. Other features exclusive to this tier include an EA Play membership, cloud gaming across multiple devices, and a free monthly “perk” from Microsoft.
