A 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck part of eastern Contra Costa County on Wednesday night and was felt in a number of Bay Area communities.

US Geological Survey

The quake occurred at 8:35 p.m. four miles south of Antioch in the Lone Tree Valley east of the Black Diamond Mines Regional Reservation, according to data from the USGS.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

On Twitter, people across the Bay Area said they felt a sharp jolt.

“Yeah! My daughter and I heard clucking and thought our blinds were off,” Celeste said. “Our cats went crazy, too.”

“I felt it in Danville off the Camino Tasajara near the Mustang football fields,” said Laura Sue. “quick shake”.

“It shook really hard here in Castro Valley,” Sarah Johal said.
