An earthquake shakes residents awake in Westchester County, parts of northeastern New Jersey

Westchester County, NY (WABC) – A 2.2-magnitude earthquake has kept some Westchester County residents awake.

The quake occurred at about 1:53 a.m. Friday south of Hastings-on-Hudson.

People have reported feeling it as far north as Danbury, Connecticut, and also in the Bronx and northeastern New Jersey.

A woman in Englewood described how she felt.

“I assumed maybe some trucks were going by, but I’m literally sitting here, the ground shook a lot, the house shook a lot,” said Englewood resident Erica Diggs.

There were no reports of damage.

There are fault lines in Ramapo and Manhattan.
