17 injured in an earthquake in Salamiyah, Hama countryside

17 people were slightly injured and suffered panic attacks as a result of the earthquake that occurred today, Friday, August 16, west of the city of Salamiyah in the eastern Hama countryside.

The official Syrian news agency (SANA) reported that the director of the National Hospital in Salamiyah, Osama Melhem, said that 12 people were transferred to the hospital with bruises and wounds on their bodies as a result of rushing and falling while trying to quickly leave their homes.

He added that five people received the necessary treatment due to panic attacks and nervous breakdowns caused by the earthquake, noting that first aid and necessary treatments were provided to the injured.

The National Earthquake Center announced that seismic monitoring stations recorded an earthquake at 1:15 pm, 28 kilometers east of Hama city, with weak to moderate aftershocks expected in the coming period.
