Japan has called for the Olympics to be delayed – BBC News

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has called for a one-year delay in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Abe said he agreed with President Thomas Bach of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Tuesday after talks earlier today.

BBC Sports Director Dan Roan says the IOC Executive Committee will approve the delay this afternoon.
