Jora Vision designs the Kwik Lisbon earthquake experiment

Jora Vision, the leading design and production company, has been selected to work on designing a new visitor experience in Lisbon, Portugal.

New visitor experience

In November 2017, Turcultur – Turismo e Cultura de Portugal, Lda, contacted Jora Vision to see if the company could help develop a complete design for an immersive new visitor experience, based on the events of that day.

“The 1,200 square meter experience, called QUAKE Lisbon Earthquake Center, will feature a 90-minute walking experience,” Van der Went says. Visitors will immerse themselves in a story-driven scene through a wide range of experiences, divided into eleven scenes that are timed and controlled.

“The entire journey will be enlivened through the use of modern project maps, interactive exhibits, simulations, themed environments and special effects. QUAKE will be housed in a new building currently under construction. QUAKE is built in the Belém district of Lisbon, and will collaborate with other wonderful museums in Lisbon and attractions, Like Museu dos Coches, MAAT, and Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. “

“QUAKE challenges you to unlock knowledge of the 1755 earthquake,” says Marco Rosa, Creative Director at Jora Vision. “Visitors to the experience will literally retreat 260 years in time to relive the event. They will be guided in groups of 24 people through the various scenes of the experience.

“Starting with an abandoned laboratory, they will be presented for the first time to the professor. Visitors will be challenged with the task of traveling back in time, to find lost important documents and return them to the professor.

However, such a trip carries risks. Visitors will have to be trained in what to live anew and, at the same time, need to find a way to return to the present. Not to spoil too much, visitors will walk the streets of the Lost City, revisit horror and wonders, and watch the drama unfold around them.
