India has five billion coronavirus infections – BBC News
Officials say the number of coronavirus infections confirmed by Indians is more than five million, the second largest in the world after the U.S. The virus appears to be spreading much faster than in any other country in India, and 90,000 cases have been reported every day for five days on Tuesday. More than 80,000 people have died as a result of intensive care beds and a lack of oxygen supply. But the death rate is lower than in many countries with a high number of cases. The rise in infections continues as the government lifts restrictions across the country in an attempt to boost the economy, which lost millions of jobs when the virus struck in March. Gyms are the latest to reopen, while schools, institutes and movie theaters remain closed. But most workplaces and markets have returned to normal, and many cities allow restaurants and bars to start serving alcohol, which is likely to increase crowds. #BBCOS #BBCOutsideSource Please subscribe HERE .
