Evidence of the underwater lake surface detected

A liquid water lake has been found beneath the polar ice pole on the south of Mars, according to a study by Italian researchers at the Italian Space Agency in the journal Science.
The evidence was collected for Mars Advanced Radar Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding instruments, also known as MARSIS, on the Mars Express spacecraft of the European Space Agency.
Between May 2012 and December 2015, MARSIS was used to investigate the Planum Australe region of the southern ice sheet. Radar pulses were emitted from the surface and measured by the polar ice caps and radio waves reflected on the Mars Express. .
