More countries have banned the arrival of the UK because they are concerned about the spread of the new variant of coronavirus. India is the latest state to suspend flights to the UK, joining Hong Kong, Canada, Switzerland and Germany. On Sunday evening, France closed the UK border for 48 hours, meaning no trucks or ferries could leave the port of Dover. As Kent’s queues increase, the Prime Minister will then chair a meeting of the government’s emergency committee. Belgium and the Republic of Ireland have also suspended flights. India will stop flights from Tuesday evening until December 31 evening. Austria will also impose a ban, while Bulgaria will suspend flights to and from the UK from midnight onwards.
