Iran has reportedly told the IAEA that it "will not recognize any allegations regarding past activities"

A global watchdog reportedly criticized Iran for failing to answer questions about possible undeclared nuclear material and nuclear-related activities in three locations.

A leaked document from the International Atomic Energy Agency, sent to member states, indicates that requests for access to two of the unidentified sites have been denied.

It is unclear what the IAEA inspectors suspect may have happened to them.

But it is believed that the activities took place in the early 2000s.

This is long before Iran has reached a historic agreement with world powers that places limits on its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.

The IAEA also reportedly said on Tuesday that Iran had almost tripled its stock of low-enriched uranium to 1,020 kg (2,249 lb) since November, in violation of the 2015 agreement, which means that he would only need 30 kg more for the experts to calculate it. need to produce a warhead if desired.

Low enriched uranium – which has a concentration between 3% and 5% of the fissile isotope U-235 – can be used to produce fuel for power plants. Military grade uranium is enriched to 90% or more.

Iran insists that its nuclear program is exclusively for peaceful purposes, but has stopped honoring a number of commitments since last year in retaliation for US sanctions reinstated by the President Donald Trump when he abandoned the deal.

The confidential IAEA report seen by journalists in Vienna on Tuesday said that Iran had not cooperated in the investigations at three sites of interest.

"Iran has not provided access to the agency in two places … and has not engaged in substantive discussions to clarify the agency's questions regarding d & # 39; # Possible undeclared nuclear material and nuclear-related activities, "said Reuters news agency.

"The director general calls on Iran to immediately and fully cooperate with the agency, including by providing quick access to the specified locations," he added.

The IAEA report indicates that inspectors want to know if natural uranium has been used at any of the sites they were unable to visit. On another site, he added, there had been activities "consistent with the disinfection efforts of part of the site".

Prime Minister of Israel said in 2018 that Iran had a "secret atomic warehouse" in Turquzabad

Diplomats said the three sites did not include one where the IAEA said last year that inspectors had detected uranium particles of human origin.

Inspectors are said to have taken samples from a location in Tehran district of Turquzabad – the area where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Iran had a "secret atomic warehouse". Iranian officials insisted that the site was just a carpet cleaning factory.

In an interview with the AFP news agency on Tuesday, the IAEA director general, Rafael Grossi, asked Iran to "provide the necessary clarifications" on Turquzabad.

IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said Iran must decide to cooperate more clearly

"The fact that we have found traces (of uranium) is very important," he said.

"This means that there is the possibility of nuclear material and activities that are not under international surveillance and of which we know neither the origin nor the intention. That tells me worry."

The leaked IAEA report indicates that Iran responded to questions on the three sites by saying that it "would not recognize any allegations of past activities".

Despite Iran's denials, the evidence gathered by the IAEA suggests that until 2003, the country carried out "a range of activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device ". Some of these activities would have continued until 2009.
