& # 39; Catch the scum & # 39; who left a woman in the 90s with a bruised face in a burglary

Masked burglars broke into the home of an elderly woman while she was sleeping and attacked her, leaving her with purple bruises under her eye.

One of them put his hand over the woman's mouth to keep her from crying while the other ransacked the Liverpool house just after 2:25 a.m. today 39; hui.

The woman, 93, was rushed to hospital with shock and facial injuries.

Police chief Andy Cooke shared the call to find the culprits, saying: It's horrible. Please help us catch the scum who did this. And don't give me any of that.

She is a 93 year old woman in her own home who should enjoy respect and dignity. Someone knows who did this.

The thieves stole money from the house on Herm Road, Vauxhall, before fleeing.

Police said an investigation was underway and that door-to-door, forensic and video surveillance investigations were underway.

Detective Sergeant Richie Shillito said: Everyone has the right to feel safe in their own home and this is a particularly cowardly and despicable incident involving an elderly lady who has been severely shaken and with visible injuries.

I know that members of the public will be shocked by what happened and I ask for their help to find out who is responsible and bring them to justice.
