School in East Hampton, Amherst plans a COVID vaccination clinic for children aged 5-11
East Hampton — East Hampton schools, health departments, and fire departments have announced that they will collaborate to provide a clinic at East Hampton High School on Friday afternoon to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5-11.
The clinic is scheduled from 3 pm to 6 pm. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The clinic will vaccinate the children with the Pfizer vaccine.
In the town of Amherst, vaccination clinics are also planned this week at elementary schools in Fort River, Wildwood and Crocker Farm.
The announcement on Tuesday is Centers for Disease Control and Prevention The youngest age group has announced approval to vaccinate children aged 5 to 11 who have cleared so far.
There are approximately 8,300 cases nationwide in which children between the ages of 5 and 11 are infected with COVID-19 and require hospitalization. Almost 40% of hospitalizations for people under the age of 18 are in the 5-11 range.
In East Hampton, the vaccine is given twice every three weeks. The second consultation is from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on December 3rd.
“Vaccination of our 5-11 year old child is another piece of the puzzle to fight COVID-19,” said Bri Eichstaedt, Health Director of East Hampton. “We are grateful that we were given the opportunity to vaccinate our children before the holidays in order to better protect them and their families.”
The Easthampton Program is funded through the Hampshire County Public Health Excellence Sharing Service Grant secured by the Northampton Department of Health.
