COVID-19: Tensioned Windsor Hospital seeks help from the general public and patience
Windsor, Ontario. – Health authorities in southwestern Ontario warn the general public about tensioned acute care and hospital capacity issues.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, along with three local hospitals and local emergency medical institutions, says it has surged in both recently. COVID-19 (new coronavirus infection) Patients and other respiratory illnesses.
They state that patients should expect waiting times and that non-emergency treatments will be much longer than usual.
They are asking non-emergency patients to seek treatment elsewhere, such as their doctor or clinic, to help ease the hospital.
They also say they are seeing a dramatic increase in infants with severe respiratory problems who soon need a high level of care.
Over the past two months, the Windsor Regional Hospital had to transfer 11 children with respiratory syncytial virus to a hospital in London, Ontario or Detroit, according to the group.
