São Paulo, June 9 (Reuters)-Health authorities in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, confirmed the first case of monkeypox in the country on Thursday.
The patient was a 41-year-old man who recently traveled to Spain and Portugal, the city’s health office said in a statement. According to the secretariat, he is hospitalized without mentioning his health.
Officials added that another suspicious case was being monitored, including a 26-year-old woman who was also hospitalized. She hasn’t traveled recently and she feels good.
The incident was previously reported this week by local media, but was confirmed only on Thursday by authorities. read more
