Arrest warrant issued for Washington woman who refused tuberculosis treatment
An arrest warrant has been issued for a Washington state woman who health officials say is refusing treatment for tuberculosis, according to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
“If people don’t get treatment, they can die from tuberculosis,” the ministry said. “And it could unnecessarily put other people at risk for tuberculosis.”
The Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department said the woman refused to take life-saving drugs or be quarantined.
The court order will allow law enforcement to detain the woman and take her to a facility for isolation, testing and treatment, health officials said.
