COVID-19 cases continue to grow in Manitoba footerite colonies
The number of COVID-19 cases in the WINNIPEG-Hutterite colony continues to increase in Manitoba.
In a Wednesday news release, state health officials announced eight new cases of COVID-19 in Manitoba, increasing the total number of active cases in the state to 49.
Seven of these new cases are from footerlite colonies.
“Recent numbers of cases reflect outbreaks and travel-related cases in some footerlite colonies,” the state said. “The investigation is ongoing. Once completed, additional information will be provided as needed to inform people of public health risks.”
The state said it would include new cases:

Women in their 30s and men in their 70s.

Girls aged 1 to 9 in the Winnipeg Health Region.

Two women in their 50s living in the Prairie Mountain Health area. And
-
Southern Health – Males in their 20s and females in their 50s in the Saint-Este de Healthy area.
According to the state, the total number of potentially positive cases in Manitoba confirmed by testing after March is currently 374. Currently, one person is receiving intensive treatment with the virus.
To date, 318 people have recovered from COVID-19. Seven people were killed by the virus.
Health officials said the current five-day test positive rate is 1.12%.
An additional 722 laboratory tests were conducted on Tuesday, bringing the total number of tests conducted in Manitoba since early February to 78,283.
