A* Star is co-developing a test that can determine if someone has been exposed to coronavirus, health news, or top stories within 15 minutes
Singapore-Science and Technology Agency (A*Star) and diagnostic company MP Biomedicals Asia Pacific have produced a rapid antibody test kit that can be used to determine if someone has been exposed Coronavirus Within 15 minutes.
This test kit, called Assure, detects antibodies called IgG and IgM. These antibodies are produced by the human immune system after exposure to Sars-CoV-2, which causes Covid-19.

The kit uses a specially designed protein in combination with small gold nanoparticles that bind to antibodies in blood, plasma, or serum samples taken from a patient.
Similar to the pregnancy test, when antibodies are present, the resulting molecule forms a visible line that shows the test result.
The test kit is not meant to diagnose people with Covid-19, but it can help determine if an individual has been previously exposed to the virus.

It is also a point of care test kit. In other words, it may be possible to test the patient and receive the results in the clinic where the kit is located, without waiting for the lab to process.
Assure was evaluated by the clinical laboratory of a national university hospital and showed good results in both serum and whole blood, according to an organization that started developing the kit in March of this year.
The sensitivity of the kit was comparable to other commercial trials and was provisionally approved by the Health Sciences Authority for use here.
MP Biomedicals said it has begun increasing production of test kits here and is ready to roll out anytime. It is also distributed in regions such as Europe, Africa and South America.
