Encouraging vulnerable people in Shropshire to get the coronavirus vaccine
Vulnerable people in Shropshire are being urged to get their spring Covid-19 vaccination before the end of June.
Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust has introduced joint bookings to allow two people to be vaccinated at the same time.
The trust is urging people with weakened immune systems and those over 75 to get the vaccine.
The vaccine is available from pharmacies, GP practices and some drop-in vaccination centres.
Steve Ellis, the trust's coronavirus vaccination lead, said the disease was not going away.
Ellis said he expects a combination flu/COVID vaccine will be introduced soon.
“I think the spring campaign will wind down over the next two to three years,” he added.
“I know that several manufacturers are developing combination influenza and coronavirus vaccines.
“We expect it will probably be available next year. I think it will become a regular autumn promotion, just like the flu.”
