Protection against KP.3 and other variants
The CDC recommends the 2023-2024 updated COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, or Novavax) to prevent severe illness from COVID-19.
The CDC has this to say about these doses:
- Everyone age 5 and older should receive one dose of the latest COVID-19 vaccine to prevent serious illness from COVID-19.
- Children ages 6 months to 4 years may require multiple doses of COVID-19 vaccination, including at least one dose of the most recent COVID-19 vaccine.
- People who are moderately or severely immunocompromised can receive additional doses of the updated COVID-19 vaccine.
- Anyone 65 years of age or older who has received one dose of the 2023-2024 updated COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, or Novavax) should receive one additional dose of the updated COVID-19 vaccine at least four months after their last updated dose.
