Madison – On Saturday, August 8, the Wisconsin Department of Health reported an increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state by 1,165, bringing the total to 59,933 in the state.

The increase in the number of cases on Saturday was by far the largest increase in a day. The all-time high was the 1,117 new cases reported on 21 July. This is the sixth time more than 1,000 new cases have been reported per day.

DHS also reported 6 new deaths, totaling 996. With COVID-19, 4980 people were hospitalized in Wisconsin, accounting for 8.3% of all positive cases.

Of the confirmed cases, 82.3% recovered and were 49,283, with 16.1%-9,636 of the cases still active.

1,046,878 people have been tested. Over 986,000 viruses have been tested negative.
