Mosquitoes detected by West Nile virus in Costa Mesa while Orange County recorded infections in three humans
Mosquito samples collected at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa are West Nile virus-positive, indicating the first mosquito infection in the city’s precinct this year, according to mosquito and vector control district officials in Orange County.
County spokesman Heather Highland placed traps in the park on Wednesday, August 27, as part of a county-wide surveillance program, and collected them on August 28. By Tuesday, he said positive test results had been confirmed.
