Brockton and Sutton downgraded the coronavirus risk map to moderate risk. 8 high-risk communities today
Two communities Brockton and Sutton classified by the Ministry of Public Health as high risk Coronavirus According to data released Wednesday, the transmission was downgraded to moderated on the state rating map.
The weekly color-coded map, updated Wednesday, classifies all 351 municipalities based on the average daily number of cases per 100,000. Each city or town is designated a higher risk or red. Medium risk, or yellow. Or low risk, or green. Communities with less than 5 cases are not specified.
According to the Ministry of Public Health, there are eight cities and towns at high risk of COVID spread, based on case data analyzed from August 16th to August 29th. They include Chelsea, Everett, Framingham, Lawrence, Lynn, Libya, Westhampton, Winthrop. This is a decrease from 9 communities last week.
The rate of new cases per 100,000 over the past 14 days was the highest in Chelsea during that period, with 29.4 new positive tests per 100,000. The second highest was Westhampton, with 21 per 100,000 followed by Revere with 20.9 per 100,000.
According to DPH, the daily infection of Westhampton per 100,000 people was 8.4 in the previous two weeks.
Brockton was downgraded after the daily infection per 100,000 people fell from 8.4 in the previous two weeks to 7 in the past 14 days. Sutton was also downgraded from eight infections every 100,000 daily to seven.
According to the DPH, in 86% of Massachusetts communities, compared to the previous two weeks, there was an improvement or no change in the average daily case size.
State health authorities announce 22 coronavirus dead on WednesdaySince the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 8,853 deaths throughout the state.
Authorities also identified 288 new cases of the virus, now at least 119,426 cases across the state. It’s based on 15,579 new molecular tests reported Wednesday, according to the Department of Public Health.
Currently, there are 308 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, of whom 58 are receiving intensive care.
The percentage of positive tests in Massachusetts has remained around 1%, the lowest level since the outbreak began.
