A new study suggests that drinking coffee may prolong the survival of people with colorectal cancer.
The researchers investigated 1,171 patients diagnosed with advanced or metastatic colorectal or rectal cancer that could not be treated by surgery. At the beginning of the study, patients completed a diet and lifestyle questionnaire that included information on coffee consumption.
Compared to those who drank no one, those who drank one drink a day had an 11% increase in overall survival and a 5% increase in progression-free survival. The more coffee they drink, the better.
