Covid: Blaenau Gwent is the most devastated area in the UK

Blaenau Gwent has the highest and fastest cases of Covid-19 infection in the United Kingdom.
Public Health Wales reported a case rate of 304.9 positive results per 100,000 people for the week leading up to September 25.
While Merthyr Tydfil is ranked 7th in the latest BBC analysis, Carfilly is one of the areas with the biggest decline in a three-week local blockade.
There were five Covid-19-related deaths last week, reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (ONS).
This is four more than the previous week, 0.9% of all deaths.
ONS reports cases of Covid-19 suspected by doctors and confirmed by the laboratory, as well as registered deaths in various locations such as hospitals, hospice, and home.
Two people died in Flintshire, a hospital and a long-term care facility. Other deaths were in hospitals involving patients from Caerphilly, RCT, and Merthyr Tydfil.

How big was Blaenau Gwent?
The fastest growing case in Wales was 304.9 per 100,000 people by September 25, with 213 actual cases in 7 days.
According to BBC analysis, this week is also one of the hardest hit areas in the UK, ahead of Merseyside’s Knowsley (280 per 100,000), Burnley (270) and Liverpool (262).
The region that has been hit hardest by rising infection rates in recent weeks is northern England.
Blaenau Gwent also showed the highest positive rate in Wales. It was 10.4% in the past week. Numbers above 4% are a concern for health authorities.
