Texas has more than about 16,000 COVID-19 deaths.Daily coronavirus data for Dallas County have not yet been released
Dallas county officials were not issuing daily coronavirus data as of 7 pm on Saturday.
The county upgraded its IT software this week. Judge Clay Jenkins of Dallas County said Thursday that the change would improve contact tracing. So far, this change has also slowed the release of data to the general public.
In a Friday update, county officials reported 508 confirmed cases of coronavirus and two new COVID-19 deaths. The update included figures for the two days after the data was no longer released on Thursday due to a technology upgrade.
The number on Friday brought the county’s total of confirmed cases to 82,918 and the Death Doll to 1,026.
Dallas County also reported 204 possible cases on Friday, bringing the total number of possible cases to 4,294. There are 13 possible deaths from COVID-19.
Possible cases and deaths include those who tested positive for the antigen (sometimes called a rapid test). He had antibodies to the virus; or had symptoms of COVID-19 and was in contact with a virus-positive person.
State-wide data
Across the state, 7,006 cases were added to the state-wide total on Saturday. Of these, 3,346 were considered new. The remaining 3,660 are older cases recently reported by the lab, the state said on the dashboard.
The state also reported 97 COVID-19 deaths on Saturday.
Texas currently reports 763,010 confirmed cases and 15,992 deaths.
There are 3,195 COVID-19 patients in Texas hospitals, including 817 in the Dallas / Fort Worth area.
The state-wide average positive rate for 7 days based on the date of collection of specimens was 6.65% as of Friday. State health officials said using data based on when people were tested would give the most accurate positive rates.
The state also provides positive rates based on when lab results were reported to the state. That rate was 7.61% as of Friday.
Authorities previously calculated the Texas coronavirus positive rate by dividing the new positive test results for the last 7 days by the sum of the new test results for the last 7 days. According to that standard, the positive rate is currently 5.82 percent, according to the dashboard.
A Texas Health Department spokesman said test results and positive rate data based on new cases are likely to be phased out, but are provided for transparency and continuity.
Tarrant County
Tarrant County reported 418 cases of coronavirus on Saturday with no new deaths.
Newly reported cases bring the county total to 51,499, including 3,706 potential cases. The death toll is 670.
According to the county dashboard, 345 people were hospitalized for the virus and 44,590 recovered.
Collin County
Collin County added 1,394 cases of coronavirus on Saturday, bringing the total to 15,548. The county also reported two new deaths and increased the casualties to 152.
According to a note on the state dashboard, 192 of the added cases were new and 1,202 were recently older by the lab.
According to the county’s dashboard, the county has 994 cases of virus activity (including 94 hospitalized), with 14,554 recovery records.
Collin County, which has received data from the State Health Services Department since handing over case management in June, has left a note on a dashboard warning residents that they are not confident in the numbers the state is offering.
Denton County
Denton County reported an additional 42 cases of coronavirus, 37 of which were active and had no new deaths on Saturday.
Newly reported cases bring the county to a total of 12,425, of which 1,622 are active and 10,694 are recovering. The death toll remains at 109.
The county did not provide an updated hospitalization number on Saturday. As of Friday, 25 people were hospitalized for the virus.
