Researchers analyzed responses from more than 2,800 people (ages 20-69) nationwide who participated in the online survey.
They found that the level of loneliness was the highest among the 20s and the lowest among the respondents in their 60s. The feeling of loneliness reached another peak in the mid-40s of the respondents.
“We found a variety of predictors of lifelong loneliness,” said Dr. Dilip Jeste, a senior associate at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine, Senior Associate Dean of Healthy Aging and Senior Care. Says.

As to why young adults are so lonely, researchers point out that people in their twenties face significant stress and pressure while trying to establish a career and find a life partner.
