46 new coronavirus cases in 2 days in Nantucket.School goes to remote areas for the rest of the week
Forty-six new cases of COVID-19 were reported at Nantucket Cottage Hospital on Monday and Tuesday, urging local schools on the island to move to distance learning for at least a few days, officials said.
The hospital confirmed the tally in a statement posted on its website and called 46 infectious diseases “much” the best two-day tally since mid-March.

“The high number of COVID-positive cases reported in Nantucket today will move Nantucket Public Schools to distance learning for the rest of the week,” Hallett said. “This means that students in Cohorts A and C will have access to study from home tomorrow, Friday the 3rd and 4th December.”
Hallett added that all sporting events and school-related activities were canceled for the rest of the week.
“We will continue to serve lunch to students who need it on the food truck,” she said. “At the end of this week, we will reassess the situation with the Nantucket Public Health Service, school committees, town officials and decide whether the school will remain in the distance learning model for a few more days.”
Nantucket was in the yellow risk category of COVID-19 infection in the state’s latest public health service city and town weekly report released Friday, with an average daily incidence of 45.1 cases per 100,000 people. ..
